This work draws on the ancient tradition of “telling the bees,” in which the most important events of life were shared with the hives to maintain a connection between the human and the non-human. The pieces function as receptacles of affections and memories that, as in the hive, are not transmitted through words, but through gestures, vibrations, and material relationships.
Each piece responds to the logic of the waggle dance, the movement with which bees communicate direction and distance, evoking that nonverbal language that circulates between bodies, objects, and environments. “Telling the Bees” proposes thinking about the exchange between species as a process of resonance and care, where memory expands beyond the human realm.
